MY EYES! MY EYES!
I can't discuss this rationally:

We have two unpleasant choices: either the Yankees thought that a) Andy is on the verge of Tommy John surgery, which you don't wish on anyone, or b) letting him go made baseball sense - which, given when you look at the potential replacements, is a conclusion that could only have been drawn by the same person who thinks that Gary Sheffield is a better option than Vladimir Guerrero, or that Ken Phelps was a better option than Jay Buhner....
The treadmill just got a lot faster.
If Theo Epstein was old enough to drink, they'd be popping champagne in Boston right now.

Unlike Dr. Manhattan and Michele, I'm not a Yankee fan and (for the most part) have no problem discussing Andy Pettitte's departure rationally. Then again, I've been pretty well swamped at work lately, so I don't have the luxury of... [Read More]

George apparently did not want Petitte. One of the besYankee left handers in team history but my theory is this.
In 2001, who got bombed in his 2 World Series Starts... Andy Pettite & I bet that George is still pissed about that.

I know how much Andy means to Yankee fans, so I can understand how hard it is to swallow his move. But, as a Dodger fan, I assure you that you're getting a pretty good pitcher in Kevin Brown. See Rob Neyer.

Thanks, Robert - I'm trying to rationalize it. Give it a couple of days.
I still have trouble thinking that Pettite is a worse injury risk than Brown, but I'm not Will Carroll, either.

I know Andy wanted to go back to his hometown and family and I can respect that. Steinbrenner was out of his mind to let him go. I will be wearing my Petitte Yankee shirt to any game he pitches in New York. I watched a Houston Astros game on TV where he pitched. There is no excitment there. He must miss that. New York to Houston - Get some energy in those stands. Get some bleacher creatures in the stands. Make your players feel welcome.
ANDY - WE MISS YOU.
